The avocado-centric festivities that come to Carpinteria every October have earned nation-wide fame and the event is noted for its unique avocado-based epicurean concoctions as well as having the world’s largest vat of guacamole.
The festival offer a variety of things to do that are sure to entertain guests of all ages. The Avocado Expo Tent presents an educational slant on the avocado industry, Largest Avocado Contest and Best Dressed Avocado Contest. Stroll through the Arts & Crafts Venue between 8th and 6th Street or visit the Commercial Marketplace at the 900 block on Linden Ave. Head to 7th Street for the Kid’s Block Party where there will be games, face painting and bouncers. There is a Best Guacamole Contest and Avocado Auction at the Guac and Grotto Stage on Sunday at 8th Street.
The Festival is one of the largest free music festivals in California with more than 75 acts on four stages. . The Main Stage is located at 9th Street, The Seal Stage is located in front of Vons, The Guac & Grotto Stage is located at 8th Street and the Kids Stage is located on 7th Street.
There is free doggie day care and last year more than 150 dogs stayed happy, cool, and entertained while their owners enjoyed the festival. Festival coordinators are committed to keeping dogs from being locked in their owner’s cars during the long hot days. The volunteers at Deserving Dogs Rescue and Rehabilitation provide the thoughtful and generous service.
The California Avocado Festival is committed to maintaining a Green environment. The Festival is a No Styrofoam Zone and biodiesel is used for Festival Generators. LED lighting will be used in commercial venues to reduce power usage.
