Big Bear Snow Play has a 4 to 15 Foot Base with Eight Runs Open

The snowstorm that brought fresh snow to Big Bear recently in combination with fresh snowmaking has boosted snow levels at Big Bear Snow Play. Today the snow-tubing park reported that its snow base is at 4 to 15 feet. Ideal snowmaking conditions with cold temperatures and low humidity are expected to remain consistent all week. The ski-resort quality, snowmaking fan guns at Big Bear Snow Play are expected to fire up again tonight, and will continue at every opportunity to build on its base.

To ensure optimum sliding conditions the snow-tubing park grooms its eight runs nightly, just as ski resorts do. The groomed snow creates an evenly spread corduroy surface for fast-paced downhill fun.

Big Bear Snow Play provides two Magic Carpet uphill lifts, which are comprised of a large moving conveyor belt, similar to an airport terminal people mover that transports riders to the top of snow-packed slopes. The purpose of Magic Carpet rides is to eliminate the tiring uphill climb, which in turn provides opportunity for more downhill thrills. For added comfort, one of the Magic Carpet rides comes equipped with a Plexiglass cover for those snowy, chilly days. Other features at the park include a “kiddie area” for the youngest riders, and when it’s time for a winter warm-up, head to the heated base lodge for family-priced snack bar and video games.

Big Bear Snow Play is open daily for snow tubing from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. with glow tubing every Friday, Saturday, and holiday nights from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Big Bear Snow Play passes include tube rental, Magic Carpet lift and unlimited tubing. A day session is $35 and glow tubing is $30 per person ages seven and up. Younger guests ages two to six are free with paying adult (one-on-one supervision is required at all times). Guests can come and go as they please. Big Bear Snow Play is located at 42825 Big Bear Blvd. (three miles east of Big Bear Village, next to Motel 6).  For more information call 909-585-0075 or visit
