You can’t be in Southern California more than 10 minutes and not spot a cyclist on the road. With so many extraordinary places to ride here, it’s no wonder the cycling craze is exploding. Whether on the trails or the streets, So Cal locals love their wheels. Many have opted to take their passion beyond the casual Sunday ride and challenge themselves and each other in bike races and competitions. If you’re in that class or have thought about taking cycling to the next level, you may want to check out some of these events taking place within the next month in the Southland.


Saturday, January 31, 2015, Campo

The 15th Annual Boulevard Road Race, hosted by the UCSD Cycling Team takes place about an hour east of downtown San Diego. Online registration is available at until January 29th. The race is a 22.4-mile road course with rollers and a long climb to the finish. 1800 Golden Acorn Way, Campo, CA 91906


Sunday, February 8, 2015, Brea

The 29th Annual Roger Millikan Memorial Criterium, presented by Canyon Velo and Velo Avanti Cycling Teams is part of the SCNCA SoCal Cup points series. For more information visit: Exit the 57 FWY on Lambert Road in Brea and go West about 2 miles. Turn right on Puente and right again on Columbia.

Pacific Sunset Velo Presents the 17th Annual DARE TO RACE Grand Prix, a 1.2 mile flat grand prix race with 7 corners and good pavement. To register visit From the 60 freeway in Ontario, exit Archibald, go north 2 blocks to Cedar, turn right to parking and registration.
