California Jazz and Wine Festival

On Sunday May 17th, the fourth annual California Jazz and Wine Fest will emanate from Thousand Oaks, CA. For those who attend, it will be a splendid, sunny day filled with jazzy fun and unlimited beverage tasting! And one can partake for only $50 for general admission, or $100 for VIP admission, the latter of which will get you extra amenities like headache-free parking and exclusive entrance to an additional enclosure with more wine and food.

The jazz band that will headline the extravaganza will be Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band. Attendees are in for a treat because Goodwin himself is an acclaimed artist, having won a Grammy award in 2006, in addition to being a renowned conductor, composer, saxophonist, and pianist. His 18-piece jazz band is also a refreshing throwback to a simpler, perhaps kinder, and more whimsical, upbeat time when people lived without too many worries and danced with carefree style. Along with other jazz acts, such as the Westlake High School Jazz Band, Paul McCallum & Friends, and The Barrelhouse Wailers, among others, those in attendance might find themselves feverishly tapping their toes, maybe even rapturously transported back to the middle of the 20th Century with wine glass in hand.

Besides wine, attendees can also sample as many microbrews and boutique spirits as they like or can handle responsibly. Food will be comprised of a variety of delectable flavors in the form of gourmet food trucks like Baby’s Badass Burgers, The Lobos Truck, The Grilled Cheese Truck, Slammin’ Sliders, Cousins Maine Lobster, and more.

Best of all, one can take solace in the fact that, notwithstanding all the oaked, velvety, jammy, silky, and crisp wine to be poured lavishly—not to mention the spirited music to be listened to and pivot-stepped to—all proceeds will be bestowed to school music programs and similar nonprofits. Consequently, by attending, you’d be doing both yourself and others in need a great deed.

Suffice it to say, one would be hard-pressed to find a better way to spend the following Sunday.
