Dwell on Design LA returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center for its 10th annual show May 29-31, 2015. This year’s event will take place over three full days of onstage programming from 250 leaders in design, with 2,000 modern furnishings and products from 400 exhibitors, and educational opportunities covering a multitude of practices.
Attendees have the opportunity to see thousands of this year’s best modern home and garden products, hear hundreds of design industry experts, experience living landscapes and prefab homes, and connect in person with hundreds of brands on the show floor. LA Weekly states, “Dwell on Design is a three day pop up theme park for professionals, amateurs, and anyone else who’s interested in the future of architecture and design.”
The home tours this year are all day for three full days starting with the West Side on Saturday, May 23, South Bay on Saturday May, 30, and Midtown and East Side on Sunday May, 31.
“Dwell on Design embodies the magazine in it’s truest sense,” says Dwell Editor-in-Chief Amanda Dameron. “Through the innovation and creativity of our speakers, exhibitors and partners, we are able to explore the modern world in a live context. We are all thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of creating an incredible show, and each year we are all driven by Michela O’Connor Abrams’ vision for what a design conference can and should be.”
Dutch designer Marcel Wanders is this year’s keynote speaker for the conference. Wanders teaches that the industry needs to make sure and bring humanity into their work and his goal is to “create an environment of love, live with passion and make our most exciting dreams come true.” His vision aligns with Dwell on Design’s unconventional approach to the traditional design show.
The onstage programming from Friday to Sunday will focus on four core content tracks: Design for Humankind, Smart Home Technology, Resiliency, and Energy 360. Day one, Friday May 29th, is Trade Day and will focus on content specifically for the trade audience. The continuous all day programming is the main appeal for those attending, regardless of being in the trade or not. A few of this year’s highlights are on topics such as “Healthy Architecture,” “The Future of Live-Work Spaces”, “Innovations in Prefab”, “The Water-Wise Home,” and “The Future of Car Free Travel in Southern California.” Celebrity programming includes “L.A. Architecture with Moby”, “Meet the Winner of Ellen’s Design Challenge,” and “Going Net-Zero with Ed Begley, Jr.”
Whether you’re in the industry, interested in what the future holds when it comes to sustainability and design, or just a creative visionary looking for ideas to build from, Dwell on Design has something for everyone, so be sure to come out and enjoy this compelling event.
