A retrospective of acclaimed Chinese immigrant Cao Yong’s original oil paintings that explore his own, highly personal journey to Tibet, Japan, Nepal, France, Italy, China, Russia, Turkey, Indonesia, Bali, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Thailand, Cambodia, Canada, Mexico and the United States over a 30-year period will be on view to the public for the first time. The exhibition will feature more than 40 paintings spanning from Yong’s early, spiritual search in Tibet to his globally inspired, more recent work, with styles ranging from realism to surrealism that pay homage to the legacy of the now Los Angeles-based artist extolled by the Japanese press as “an artistic genius of our time.”
