Los Robles Master Chorale (LRMC), among Southern California’s premier choirs and lauded for its “robust choral tapestry” (Artillery), caps the yuletide season with “Joyful Noise!”, a family-friendly program led by Artistic Director Lesley Leighton showcasing John Rutter’s ebullient Gloria and a LRMC-commissioned world premiere by Jasper Randall, as well as other holiday gems and favorite Christmas carols. An evergreen favorite brimming with freshness, the three-movement Gloria is noted for its sheer beauty and was described by Rutter himself as “a bright Latin-flavored fiesta.” The 105-voice chorus also performs Printz’s Sing with Joy, Sing Noel; Burt’s Some Children See Him, Mendelssohn’s Weihnachten, Op. 79, No. 1; Coreen Duffy’s Adon Olam; Ruth Morris Gray’s No Room, No Room; and three works by Shawn Kirchner – Bright Morning Stars, Brightest and Best and Lo How a Rose. Adding to the festival musical cheer are stunning arrangements of such beloved carols as O Little Town of Bethlehem, Little Drummer Boy, Do You Hear What I Hear and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
