Feed the Children and StarKist® Launch Feed and Read – An Interactive and Kid-Friendly Food and Education Experience

As many as 400 families, pre-identified by Challengers Boys & Girls Club, will attend the launch of Feed and Read – an interactive and kid-friendly food and education experience. More than 800 backpacks filled with school supplies, books and snacks will be distributed to children attending the event. All families will receive a 25-pound box of food and a 15-pound box of essentials (such as shampoo, conditioner and personal care items) from Feed the Children and StarKist®.

San Diego Locals Rally to Support Innovative Lung Cancer Research

Hundreds of local residents are joining forces to fight lung cancer, united in the belief that surviving lung cancer should be the expectation, not the exception. The San Diego Free to Breathe 5K Run/Walk and 1-Milke Walk support Free to Breathe, a lung cancer research and advocacy organization dedicated to increasing lung cancer survival. Last year, community members, teams, and companies across the region supported the San Diego Free to Breathe 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Walk by raising $53,000.

25th Annual Greater Los Angeles walk4ALZ®

Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles (ALZGLA) will hold its popular annual fundraiser, walk4ALZ® on Sunday, October 29th. The walk will start and end in Century Park, in Century City, and is expected to draw a crowd of more than 2,000 participants and supporters.  A fun-filled morning for the whole family, walkers this year are encouraged to parade in their Halloween costumes, and stay for the walk4ALZ costume contest. This year, walk4ALZ hopes to raise $500,000 in donations. All proceeds benefit ALZGLA, the only local, full-service, nonprofit with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
