With Father’s day around the corner, it is a great time to starting planning a fun day for dad. Whether your father is a nature guy or car guy, Southern California has a variety of activities that your father will enjoy this Father’s Day weekend.
If your father is a car guy:
The Rodeo Drive Concours D’Elegance Car Show in Beverly Hills on June 18th may be the show for him. The show features cars and motorcycles from past, present and future decades that highlight the innovation of cars in terms of fashion, entertainment, and design. The show is the largest event in Beverly Hills and considered “One of the 300 most unmissable events” by Frommers Travel Guide.
If your father is a critical thinker:
An Escape Room is a great way to bond with dad solving puzzles and games in order to escape. They are a great challenge that will be a sure way to get the family thinking together. Another great benefit is that Escape Rooms are found across Southern California from Los Angeles to San Diego to Palm Springs.
If your father is a golf buff:
A great way to spend Father’s day is with a round of golf at your local country club. After you play 18 holes, you and your father can spend the rest of the day together eating lunch at the club or swimming in the pool.
If your father is creative:
The 25th Annual Pasadena Chalk Festival on June 17th & 18th is a great place to experience art and celebrate with the whole family. The family can see local artists create masterpieces on the walk at the Paseo Colorado. The festival will include a children’s section where they can create father’s day cards, live music, and a silent auction. Another fun activity is the Police Classic Car show, where the family can see the evolution of the police car.
If your father is adventurous:
One activity that an adventurous guy like him would enjoy is skydiving. He can spend his day getting the trill of flying through the skies of Southern California. Popular destinations include: Oceanside, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Camarillo, and Perris.
Another thrilling activity is parasailing over the water at Marina Del Ray. The family can take in breathtaking views of the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach Boardwalk from 500-800 feet in the air and catch the sight of some marine life, such as dolphins.
If your father likes tasting tours:
A great idea for a father who enjoys a nice cold beer is the opportunity to go on a beer tour. A beer tour is similar to a wine tasting, where the customers are given the opportunity to sample different kinds of beers from different breweries. Popular beer tours are the San Diego Brewery Tour, LA Craft Beer Tour, San Luis Obispo’s
Hop On Beer Tour, and the Inland Empire Brewery Tour…
If your father is more of a wine connoisseur, a Wine Tasting may be the way to go. He can indulge in different kinds of wines and spend the afternoon relaxing at the vineyards. If he likes what he taste, he has the opportunity to take home a bottle of his favorite wine. Popular wineries include Malibu, Temecula, and San Diego.
If your father enjoys the outdoors:
A popular Fathers’ day activity is taking in the Southern California landscapes on one of the many trails here in Southern California. These hikes are a great way to spend time with family and explore the views of California. Hikers can take in the breathtaking ocean views on trails such as Seascape in Palos Verdes, desert landscape at the Devil’s Punchbowl in the San Gabriel Valley, and to historic landmarks such as Griffith Park Trail to the Hollywood sign.
But those are not the only types of landscapes that can be found the family can also spend time in the snow at the Mammoth Ski Lodge. Normally close this time of year; Mammoth Mountain is open until July 2017 due to the increase in snow. The family can spend time skiing and snowboarding the different mountains, enjoy some hot chocolate, or just taking in the beautiful landscape of the mountain.
