She’s a Chicago girl who looks like a winner at the beach. So for a feature article on Jen Widerstrom, the beautiful and vivacious new trainer on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” Southern California Life headed for Oxnard.
Home base for the interview and photo shoot for the current January/February issue was the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel and Resort, the only all-suite hotel in Southern California located directly on the beach.
“It’s a little hidden treasure that’s affordable and not crowded and off the beaten track,” explains Southern California Life editorial director Michele Stueven.
The 250-room hotel served as the backdrop as Widerstrom rode her bike on the winding path and posed barefoot on the small sandy bluffs in the dramatic evening light as she revealed the joys of her new fitness lifestyle.
“There’s such an advantage to living here in Southern California,” says Widerstrom, 32, who moved here six years ago. “The first thing I noticed was that literally every single day the sun is out. It’s easier to get up, get your feet on the ground and get outside and want to move.”
