There’s no doubt that you’ve toiled hard during your university years to establish an awesome social circle, experiment with new books, earn the highest marks, as well as push and market yourself when nobody else would. But now you’ll have to soon do it all over again, this time as a responsible, full-fledged adult, who has the benefit of knowing that life after college isn’t so bad as long as you act swiftly and passionately.
The truth is you have every reason to smile, be joyful, and swagger confidently like a boss, because the mecca that is Southern California has a hopeful array of get-your-foot-in-the-door job options to choose from this summer following graduation. Even if you plan to be in college a trifle longer, internships for credit/pay might appeal to you.
Consequently, So Cal Life has chosen five cool and coveted employers so you’ll have an idea of where to point your career compass.
Southern California Edison
Did you know that So Cal Edison offers specific developmental programs (and internships) for the college graduate? The fields include engineering, business/operations, and computer science. Best of all, the minimum GPA requirement to apply is only a 3.0. Not so out of reach, right?

There are two compelling reasons to work directly for the city of Los Angeles—job stability and great benefits. Moreover, because there are so many departments, there are naturally myriad listings at all times to make your head spin, but in a good way.
Amgen, Thousand Oaks, CA
If your major even remotely resembles science, marketing or management, Amgen could be ideal, as it is renowned for partnering with universities to bring over recent college graduates with an abiding interest in its industry. Furthermore, its internship and co-op programs last between 4 months to a year and pay well above the market average.
Disney (Southern California)
If you are fervent enough, Disney can “show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid,” and grant you the opportunity to tangibly exist in its fictional, magical kingdom. Additionally, the areas you can work in run the gamut from concept artistry and digital production to business and finance. Last but not least, all summer internships are paid!
Warner Bros., Burbank, CA
More so than the other major studios, WB is arguably more proactive about reaching out to a spectrum of new grads with entry-level positions in TV and film, some of which, like in the Research & Analytics sphere, will be bat-signaled to, and likely filled by, numerate folks. For those curious about internships, most opportunities for the summer will be posted throughout March and April only.
