New pop recording artist and fourth generation Malibu local, Kylie Hughes had the Ivy at the Shore restaurant in Santa Monica packed shoulder-to-shoulder and swaying for her recent album listening party and live performance.
Known for her California surf vibe, Kylie came up with her own original sound – “Calipopicana” – stemming from her Malibu, California roots. Her retro-style mixed with styled pop melodies and a little country and soulful Americana sound inspired the album “Calipopicana.”
“Being a beach girl and growing up at the beach, I was influenced by the Beach Boys and lots of cool beachy summertime vibes,” Kylie told Southern California Life just before her set started. “So it came really naturally to write songs about the beach and my experience growing up in Malibu.”
