“We wanted to create the team we always wanted to see as fans, a team that plays by its own rules” – Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.
As Los Angeles football fans patiently play the waiting game for our very own NFL team, now going on 20 years, an iconic rock group is changing the face of Arena Football right here in town. The LA Kiss AFL team is going into its second year this March of 2015 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Owned by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of “Kiss,” they’ve given their first AFL team the name they have been building and growing for 40 years. Kiss is playing to win in everything they do, especially Arena Football.
The AFL is a much faster and highly offensive game because it’s played on a 50-yard field as opposed to a NFL 100-yard field. In the AFL, there isn’t time for a quarterback to hang in the pocket for an extended period of time. There aren’t “tv timeouts.” Every aspect of the game is high-energy, fast-paced offense and a full blitz style defense.
Gene, Paul, and Co-Owner and President Schuyler Hoversten, saw an opportunity to bring their entertainment knowledge to the game and change the face of the AFL. “They are amazing owners,” says Hoversten, “and it’s not every day that a sports team has the opportunity to change the relevance and credibility of an entire league. That is what LA Kiss has the potential to do.”
LA Kiss takes live sports entertainment up a notch and at every game brings us live bands, a Superbowl-style halftime, top quality promotions, and the most “bang for your buck” pricing for an event of this caliber. This highly offensive, fast moving game, accompanied with the live entertainment, garners the fact that if you look away, you’re going miss something amazing.
