With the fast-paced lives of Angelenos, our need to book last-minute reservations to
places isn’t too uncommon. But unfortunately, the likeliness of scoring a table at our
preferred establishments during primetime hours usually isn’t great.
Luckily, when it comes to dining, we can now breathe a sigh of relief, thanks to Resy, a
free mobile reservations app that just launched earlier this month in Los Angeles, after
making its way onto New York cell phones in June.
The convenient tool, compatible with both iOS and Android, gives customers last minute
access to the best tables at some of the finest eateries, including Terrine, Saam by José
Andrés, Yellowtail, Pace and Eveleigh, with many others to be added in the coming months.
The app, which boasts Ashton Kutcher as one of its investors, integrated with Uber, so
users can take care of securing not only a seat at their desired restaurant, but also a
seat en route to the location with just a few simple clicks.
“We’re excited to be in L.A. at a time when the restaurant scene here has never been better, from
perfect neighborhood joints like Eveleigh and Pace to the high flying acrobatics of guys like
José Andrés at Saam, to what may be a new sweet-spot for California cuisine at Terrine—and
that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” Resy’s co-founder and CEO Ben Leventhal (who is also the
co-founder of Eater.com) recently said in a press release. “We hope we can get you to the exact
right table and the best place at whatever time you actually want to go.”
People who utilize the app throughout of the month of December receive two added bonuses: no-
fee reservations and a glass of complimentary sparkling wine with their booking.
And why not keep the libations flowing from there with a last minute table at up to 70 percent
off of bottle prices at one of Hollywood’s hottest clubs?
With a little help from the Bottles Tonight app, getting in on a whim at a number of venues,
including Create and The Sayers Club is a cinch. All it takes is everyone in a group downloading
the app (on iPhone or Android) and they can split the bill directly from there.
And for the after party-friendly folks, there’s always the Hotel Tonight app, which can help
guests conclude the evening (or early morning) with a last-minute booking at a trendy spot right
near the club action for a discounted price.
Available all over the world and on a wide number of operating systems, the app launched at
the end of 2010 by Jared Simon, Chris Bailey and Sam Shank- who founded two travel startups,
Dealbase.com and TravelPost.
