New this year, the waterfront locale will offer sun-soaked San Diegans a taste of the North Pole with an expansive outdoor ICE RINK to benefit Rady Children’s Hospital, a free holiday family MOVIE NIGHT in the park, and a festive 100ft-tall TREE LIGHTING party complete with holiday tunes and (wait for it…) an oh-so-hip hoverboarding Surfin’ SANTA CLAUS! The month of December will also introduce Liberty Station’s highly anticipated free & open to the public HOLIDAY WALKABOUT that’ll showcase many of the neighborhood’s most exciting north end shops, artist galleries and restaurants—including Fireside, Liberty Public Market, The LOT, Corvette Diner, The Loma Club, Buona Forchetta, Soda & Swine and many more!
SD’S NEWEST ICE RINK GIVES BACK | “FANTASY ON ICE”

Lace up those stakes and prepare to hit the ice—there’s a new holiday ice rink in town! Watch Liberty Station transform into a winter wonderland as Fantasy on Ice kicks off its inaugural year in the plaza at the NTC Command Center (2640 Historic Decatur Road). Having permanently relocated the ice rink from Downtown’s Horton Plaza, Fantasy on Ice has raised more than $1 million dollars over the past 18 years, with proceeds directly benefiting The Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital. Fantasy on Ice at Liberty Station will officially open on Thursday, November 19th to kick-off the 2015 holiday skating season and will remain open through January 3rd, 2016. Liberty Station’s Holiday Walkabout will kick off a new quarterly community-driven ‘walkabout’ series on Saturday, December 12th. Take in the thousands of twinkling lights and festoons of holiday decor within the neighborhood’s north end “Arts District” (between Roosevelt Rd and Lytton St). Feast on complimentary holiday-inspired tastes and sips from favorite local eateries, wander the endless artisan galleries and boutiques for the perfect gift, or hit the new ice rink for an evening of family-fun. Liberty Station’s hoverboarding Surfing’ Santa will touch down to greet well-wishing kiddos, and with live music and entertainment stationed along Sims Rd., there’s plenty of holiday revelry to be had by all as Liberty Station welcomes friends & families to the neighborhood.

Spend a night underneath the stars during Liberty Station’s holiday-themed family movie night! Round up the kids, grab a blanket, and head to the North Promenade Pump House, where holiday classic Home Alone will be playing on the outdoor big screen on Sunday, December 13th. Nab a spot on the lawn early with the Surfin’ Santa band serenading holiday moviegoers before the screening. Specialty food items, hot cocoa and popcorn will also be available during the showing.
SANTA CLAUS TAKES FLIGHT!

All the way from the North Pole, Santa Claus takes a more modern approach this year as he hoverboards around Liberty Station this holiday season. While gliding through the neighborhood spreading holiday cheer, kids & families lucky enough to spot him will have the opportunity to share their secret wishes and pose for a pic with Jolly Old Saint Nick! Families can come visit with Santa every Saturday during the month of December before the Christmas holiday (Dec 5th, 12th and 19th).
HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING

Witness the holiday spirit come alive during Liberty Station’s first ever Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. Grab the family for a special night as a 100ft Norfolk Pine transforms into a Holiday Wishing Tree, complete with thousands of colorful lights and cheery decorations. With tunes from the Surfin’ Santa Band, small bites and sips for purchase from Liberty Public Market and a special visit from Santa Claus, guests are invited to stroll the grounds of Liberty Station after the tree lighting and take in the sparkling lights and merry decorations that adorn the grounds.

Snap up one-of-a-kind local gifts for everyone on your list during Liberty Station’s first annual Common Good Holiday Party. Hosted in historic building #11 (just across the street from Liberty Public Market), this holiday pop-up market features a curated selection of some of San Diego’s top artisans along with a holiday photo making booth presented by AmigoBooth. Your $10 ticket includes entry into the party, a cocktail from Old Harbor Distilling, pours from Lagunitas Brewing, and unlimited holiday photo opportunities. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to fund a collage education for Fumbani, an African student studying in Malawi. Apart from the holiday festivities, shop the curated selection of notable local artisans, from Bradley Mountain’s leather goods to hand-poured candles from Mr. B’s Necessities to inspirational prints from Odd Daughter Paper Co. and Dear Darling Calligraphy Co.
