Heart’s Auction to Benefit MusiCares

Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson are showing they have lots of heart by auctioning their personal items through Julien’s Auctions to benefit both The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and MusiCares, an organization established by the Recording Academy to provide financial, medical and emergency assistance to those in the music industry.

Because the sisters, whose band was inducted into Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, have been known for their musicianship and stage presence, The Collection of Ann and Nancy Wilson includes custom made costumes and clothing, awards and a 12-string Ovation guitar played by Nancy on a tour circa 1985.

“The red Ovation 12 string was always the easiest guitar for playing on stage and in the studio. I always called it the ‘Dog and Butterfly Red 12,’” Nancy Wilson says, referring to the 1979 double-platinum selling album and Top 40 single of the same name.

Some of the costume highlights include a dress made by Carole McClellan with Austrian crystal embellishments worn by Ann around 1977 on stage and in Circus Magazine in 1978, a pant ensemble worn on the 1980 Heart Greatest Hits Live cover and a Moschino trench coat with trompe de l’oeil iridescent sequins worn on the 1986 tour program, and on the “If Looks Could Kill/ What He Don’t Know” 7-inch single.

Also included in the auction are Nancy’s black and white satin stage ensemble also featured in the November 1980 issue of Hit Parade Magazine, a pink lace halter bodice worn for the “These Dreams” video and 1986 tour program and so much more.

The Collection of Heart is featured in the Icons & Idols: Rock n’ Roll, November 7th and 8th at Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills Gallery and online at julienslive.com.
