On December 17, the city of Newport Beach will light up the night at the opening ceremony of its 106th
Annual Christmas Boat Parade. The celebration, which is the longest running in the nation and spans
five festive nights, will be Grand Marshalled by actress Leslie Mann and singer/actor Mark McGrath.
Mann and McGrath will be the first-ever Grand Marshals for this historic event.
Known for her roles in This is “40,” “Knocked Up” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” Mann is a distinguished
comedic Hollywood actress and grew up in Newport Beach. She will stand beside McGrath, who made
his mark in the music world with his band Sugar Ray and produced such hits as Fly and Every Morning.
McGrath and Mann, who is married to writer/director/producer Judd Apatow, both attended Corona del
Mar High School. “It’s thrilling to watch both of their successful careers throughout the years and how
wonderful to have them back in their hometown at the holidays,” said Newport Beach & Company
President and CEO Gary Sherwin.
This year’s parade is themed “Deck the Hulls with Bows of Jolly” and will be coupled with the Ring of
Lights home decorating competition, where residents will showcase their holiday spirit with beautifully
decorated homes on the bay. Hundred of lights and seasonal décor help make this winter wonderland
on the water a destination for travelers and an exciting spectacle for Newport residents each year.
