Maine Lobster is once again the star of the 20th Annual Redondo Beach Lobster Festival starting at 6 pm Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27 at the Redondo Beach Seaside Lagoon.
Southern California’s original lobster festival features a new slant for 2015 focusing upon upscale dining, entertainment, craft beer and wine, beginning with this year’s Baja Bistro Lobster. Inspired by Chef Jessica Jordan of Fishbar Manhattan Beach, offerings include small plates of lobster guacamole and chips, lobster rolls, lobster tacos, lobster corn chowder, lobster grilled cheese, lobster tacos and other tasty crustacean treats.
The VIP area features Kincaid’s popular “Hands On” Lobster Feast for two to 10 served at individual tables. Offering a full bar and table service, you are seated upon an elevated “skybox” with panoramic views of the entertainment stage. Starting the three-course spread is a classic shrimp cocktail with grilled artichoke and dipping sauce followed by a New England-style lobster boil as chefs pile the center of the table high with buckets of fresh Maine lobster, Cajun sausage, corn on the cob, garlic and buttered red potatoes. Desert, of course, is Kincaid’s signature key lime pie.
At tables along the lagoon, you can savor Maine lobster dinners, a steak and lobster surf ‘n turf with an Angus New York strip steak and Maine lobster tail or, for pure meat eaters, a 12 oz. certified Angus center-cut New York strip steak dinner. Advance meal tickets, which include T-shirts, can be purchased online or at the door.
You can complete your meal with fine wines or craft beers from national and local breweries including The Strand Brewing Co., El Segundo Brewing, and The Dudes. Activities include stand-up paddleboard demonstrations, paddle boating for guests and lots of festive vendors selling jewelry, hats and other wares.
Entertainment includes Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, Bow Wow Wow, The Untouchables, Flashback Heart Attack, with more to be announced. The popular South Bay music venue, Saint Rocke, is curating the line-up.
