Santa Barbara’s charm is matched only by the profusion of activities to be found in and nearby this beautiful coastal town throughout the year. If you’re around in October and enjoy harvest and seafood festivals, fine dining, homemade brews, and winery visits, you can use passwords provided by participating merchants to receive unique offerings and gain entrance to special events throughout the month-long 6th Annual epicure.sb 2014.
This year’s epic-Scoop theme is designed to present an insider’s look into the Santa Barbara lifestyle. The three categories of events are aptly dubbed epic-Dish, epic-Venture and epic-Gathering.
For epic-Dish, the passwords unlock secret prix fixe menus and selection of other culinary delights and libation options you’ll only find there in October. epic-Venture includes exclusive cultural experiences only available during epicure.sb such as Maritime Tastings–Cultured Shellfish & Finfish (Oct. 2 & 23). Mention the password and go behind-the-scenes at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, find out how local fishermen make their catches, and see a local chef demonstration. You can also learn to craft the perfect cocktail with a master mixologist and design your own signature cocktail while savoring Italian appetizers.
epic-Gathering features an appetizing choice of festivals and one-time events fused with cuisine, libation and cultural elements. And from 10am to 4pm on October 25, more than 2.5 miles of beautiful Santa Barbara beachfront road will be closed to vehicle traffic, allowing for a festive variety of pedestrian-only activities. Signature events also include the Lemon and Avocado Festivals, Harvest Weekend and The Santa Barbara Beer Festival–all offering tasty tidbits and various libations.
Between dining, tastings and festivals, you can explore the shops along fabled State Street, relax and watch spectacular sunsets at the beach, golf, and enjoy all the history, art, culture, entertainment and other treasures the area has to offer.
