On Friday, January 9th, W Magazine presented a two-hour “Shooting Stars” gala in Los Angeles to highlight an artistic photo exhibit, which is open to the public until February 22. The exhibit is comprised of LED screens and posters of Hollywood icons such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, and more. The live setting encompassing the artwork was of equal cachet, and featured an endlessly sumptuous array of liquor, camaraderie, club music, executives, avant-garde fashion, and shoulder-to-shoulder luminaries.
The celebratory scene was headlined by editor Stefano Tonchi and entertainment provocateur Miley Cyrus, but also saw notable appearances by Hailee Steinfeld, Rachel Zoe, and Rose McGowan, among others.
Present at the event was also actress Bai Ling—known for her roles in The Crow (1994) and Red Corner (1997)—who was so enthralled by the colorful exhibit that she relished capturing as many snapshots on her iPhone as she could. “The way the subjects are portrayed seems larger than life because a unique and different side of them is shown,” remarked Ling, as she took notice of the aesthetically-curated ambiance.
Also in attendance were the fashion models that don’t get nearly as much recognition as their Tinseltown counterparts, but are just as integral to magazines like Vogue, InStyle, Elle, and, of course, W.
One of these models, who also happened to be the tallest of her peers at the extravaganza, was Masha Rudenko, whose look is reminiscent of another European-born woman from a previous era—Brigitte Nielsen. Rudenko, who immigrated to Southern California from Russia a few years prior, has not only amassed an impressive portfolio, but has earned the attention of an influential TV producer, who championed the model’s cause throughout the night. Certainly, it would be of little surprise if Rudenko’s star shoots sky-high in the not-too-distant future.
The W Magazine “Shooting Stars” Exhibit is open to the public until February 22nd at 6067 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036. Visit wmagazine.com/shooting-stars-los-angeles for more details.
