Surfin’ Santa Rides the Waves into Seaport Village

Ditching the reindeer and traditional cold-weather garb, Saint Nick will don his favorite Hawaiian tee and boardshorts for Surfin’ Santa at Seaport Village. Arriving to the San Diego Harbor via watercraft, the festive celebration kicks off the holidays SoCal style on November 25.

After a special waterfront arrival at 1 p.m., visitors can hang-ten with Santa for free photos on his giant surfboard and six-foot wave until 5 p.m. Following his arrival, Santa will cruise down the boardwalk in a sleek red convertible for a festive parade featuring live music, stilt walkers and holiday cheer. Kids crafting, live street performances and a variety of unique local shops and eateries will keep visitors entertained throughout the warm-weathered holiday event.

“Surfin’ Santa has become a beloved way for locals and visitors to kick off the holiday season,” said Seaport Village General Manager Terry Hall. “We’re incredibly proud to be home to one of the most unique Santa sightings in the country, and look forward to celebrating his big arrival with beautiful weather, fantastic shopping and free family fun on the waterfront.”

In addition to the festivities above, visitors can participate in Small Business Saturday at Seaport Village. This event celebrates the Shop Small movement to get shoppers to patronize local merchants across the U.S. Seaport Village is home to more than 50 locally-owned businesses, including several that opened with Seaport Village in 1980.

The twelfth annual Surfin’ Santa celebration includes:

  • Surfin’ Santa at Seaport Village

After Santa makes his waterfront arrival at 1 p.m., kids and adults can greet the boardshorts-wearing Santa for a festive parade down the boardwalk. Santa will be available for photos on his surfboard all afternoon, leaving time to enjoy kids crafting tables, live entertainment and dining.

  • Eco-Friendly Ornament Making

Kids of all ages can create customized eco-friendly ornaments to take home and hang on the tree.

  • Holiday Shopping At More Than 50 Unique Shops and Eateries

Shoppers are guaranteed to find something for everyone on their holiday shopping lists, including eco-friendly jewelry and TOMS shoes from Urban Girl Accessories, personalized bath products and scents from Sinfulicious Bodycare, customized tumblers from Tervis and much more. Mistletoe is dedicated to Christmas décor all year round.

In addition to the festive activities listed above, visitors can head to Seaport’s sister property, the Headquarters at Seaport, for additional gifting ideas from locally-owned shops and eateries such as Geppettos Toys, Dallmann Chocolates, Aaron Chang Gallery and more. Visitors can also lounge in the beautiful outdoor courtyard or get a bite from one of the center’s restaurants including Puesto, Eddie V’s or Season’s 52.
