Turkey Day Eats, Cocktail Treats & Sensational Sweets
In the mood for seasonal food? Check out these holiday-ready restaurants and bars:
Ring in Thanksgiving at the bar that everyone is thankful for, as Bar Mattachine, Downtown L.A.’s welcoming gay craft cocktail bar, is celebrating Turkey Day with lavish libations! Owner Garrett McKechnie is shaking up the Cape Coddah cocktail, an ode to the first Thanksgiving in Massachusetts, with vodka, fresh muddled cranberries and homemade lime cordial poured over crushed ice, a sure-fire crimson cocktail that may just taste even better than your Grandmother’s cranberry sauce. In Southern California, one can never predict whether or not we will have the unexpected (or expected) heatwave on Thanksgiving, which is why Bar Mattachine will also be serving up the Indian Summer, an icy mixture of Olmeca Los Altos tequila, agave, fresh watermelon, lime juice, jalapeño and cilantro. Kick back on the outdoor patio, cozy up in the upstairs lounge or dance underneath the shimmering disco ball this holiday. The motto at Mattachine is “Come with us, whether you are or not. Or do whatever you would like.” Now that is something to be thankful for!
Bar Mattachine will be open for Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 26th from 5:00 pm to 2:00 am; 221 West 7th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90014; 213.278.0471; facebook.com/BarMattachine
