Get ready to celebrate all things Greek during the annual Ventura County Greek Festival June 26-28 at Camarillo Freedom Park. Sponsored and organized by St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Camarillo for more than 30 years, this fun-filled event has lots of music, dancing, food, beverages, shopping, entertainment, and activities to entertain the entire family.
Performing this year are five Greek dance groups of all ages including The Greek at the Harbor, The Greek Mediterranean Grill and Lounge, and St. Demetrios. Everyone is invited to participate, and if you need any encouragement, you’ll get all the lessons you need to get out on the floor and dance the day away. And since Greek dancing requires Greek music, this year’s festival stars The Olympians during the three days.
Some 10,000 attendees are expected to enjoy food booths offering traditional Greek cuisine such as succulent lamb, chicken souvlaki, spinach and cheese pie, and world-famous pastries made from recipes handed down from generation to generation. Accompanying are Greek beverages such as Ouzo as well as beer, lemonade and soft drinks. Additional activities include 15-20 booths of assorted wares, drawings, face painting, and more.
Additional sponsors include The Greek Mediterranean Grill and Lounge, Houweling’s Tomatoes, Boskovich Fruits & Vegetables, and Everlast Builders. Proceeds go to the building fund for St. Demetrios’ new church on Santa Rosa & Woodcreek Rd. in Camarillo.
Hours are from 5-10pm on Friday, June 26; 11am-10pm Saturday, June 27; and 11am-7pm Sunday the 28th. Freedom Park is located at 480 Skyway Drive in Camarillo.
