Although best known for its beaches, laid-back lifestyle and celebrity sightings, Malibu has evolved over the years to include “world-class dining destination” to its list of credits. About two decades ago only a handful of fine restaurants could be found in Malibu, but now, even the most finicky foodie can be wowed by the eatery options along this magical beachside community. Here are a few you may want to visit next time you find yourself in Southern California driving northbound on the Pacific Coast Highway:

Neptune’s Net

This PCH staple dates back to 1956 and sits at top of Malibu, almost to the Ventura County line. You can munch on fresh seafood with Malibu locals, and watch surfers and bikers as they stop in for lunch. The surroundings are the essence of true Malibu – a bit of hillside and a lot of fresh ocean air.

The Sunset Restaurant & Beach Bar

You’ll have to know where you’re heading since this restaurant doesn’t sit right on PCH like most others, but it’s worth the hunt to find. The Sunset sits on the sand and offers great food and amazing ocean views. An elevator escorts you to the upper level dining area where you can catch a perfect sight of the sunset.

Café Habana

Owned by restaurateur Rande Gerber, Café Habana is best known for its corn on the cob, and prickly pear margaritas made with Casamigos (Rande Gerber and his buddy George Clooney’s tequila). Celebrity sightings are pretty common, and leading that pack is Rande’s wife Cindy Crawford.

Ollie’s Duck & Dive

Duck Dive is a true Malibu hang-out located in the “Point Dume” area and considered the only gastro-pub in Malibu. The menu is unique, consisting of … you guessed it: a whole lot of duck. They offer a long list of craft beers as well.

Gladstones Malibu

This PCH landmark can be found where Sunset Blvd. meets the Pacific Coast Highway. Located right on the beach in the Pacific Palisades, this restaurant offers a spectacular 180-degree view of the Malibu coastline, a great fresh seafood menu, and a fun happy hour setting.
